About The Event
Join us and be inspired as we explore how we can each contribute to the safeguarding our beautiful planet. Our speaker and Mahwe member, Kate Reilly, will talk about her journey, share tips and lessons about striving toward a zero waste lifestyle.
TOWARD ZERO WASTE: MORE THAN CANVAS BAGS AND STAINLESS-STEAL STRAWS
More and more, the public are calling large companies and governments to account, demanding they change their current actions to protect our planet. Plastic packaging is a growing industry and concerns are increasing over plastic appearing where we might not expect; the sea, our food and even in the air we breathe. With larger entities slowly catching up with public demand, it has fallen largely to the consumer to do their bit. You might ask – what difference does it make if I make changes in my life? The thing is, when 100,000 people have the same mindset…it can make all the difference in the world. This evening we take you further than canvas bags and stainless-steel straws into a world of refill, DIY and more!
Katie is an architect with an ethical conscience that feeds into her professional and personal life. Over the last few years she has been on a mission to reduce her waste and single-use plastic, making a conscious effort to remove these in an affordable, stress-free way. Still on this journey, she has tried various ‘swaps’ to suit her lifestyle and budget. As companies are becoming more accountable for their environmental impact, these swaps are becoming easier and easier to do!
