About The Event

We'd like to invite you to join us for an inspirational evening, to hear a talk and enjoy a conversation over a meal. This time we welcome Mike Jennings as our speaker to talk about shifting our mindsets in our workplace from one of control to one of empowerment.

What is work for? Is it to earn a living? Is it to pursue a passion, or a dream?

Do we just accept our role at work, or do we push on up the hierarchy? Who gets in the way and how do we deal with them? Does this mean only unpleasant people get to the top?

When we say we enjoy our work, what do we mean? For those who don’t like their job – are they trapped?

Are you a slave to your work, unable to leave because you fear the loss of your salary, or a volunteer who happens to get paid but would do the same job for nothing you love it so much?

Whether you work for someone else, for yourself, or if you employ others, then this talk will open up a discussion around how we feel about work.

In this talk I will explore with you the subtle differences in work practices that can impact so much on how we feel about our work. This will apply to you as an employee, and will also apply if you run a business and are thinking of changing your career path.

More about Mike Jennings

After training as an accountant Mike worked for a growing start-up tech company and then a family building contractor before taking over his family business which involved managing and developing a business park near Oxford.

Starting with three people in 1992, he grew the business to 15 people by 2012, then he handed over the reigns to his team so that he could focus on developing the cultural themes he introduced to his family business.

Mike is now a published author, TEDx speaker and a Key Note speaker at events around the UK and beyond. He talks mainly about people in business, and how your team can be inspired by how you behave and what you believe in. He intersperses his talks with stories from his own experiences.
