About The Event
Join our Banbury group for a talk from Clare Nash whose creative approach is bold, honest and truly inspiring.
OUTSIDE THE BOX: A creative approach to life
This talk is the story (so far) of Clare Nash who has learnt the value of doing ‘absolutely everything differently. Clare is an architect and has built a successful practice overcoming many obstacles by thinking outside the box. This evening, Clare will share the lessons she’s learnt along the way and demonstrate we can be successful without conforming to society’s standards. Clare's talk will give us plenty to discuss, share and reflect on.
About Clare Nash, Clare Nash Architecture Ltd
Clare set up CNA in 2011, when the UK was still in deep recession. The practice has now grown to six people, all working part-time and without an office. Clare did not believe she was either clever or patient enough to stand seven years of studying architecture and took an unconventional route to qualification. She got bored for a bit while studying and spent two years living in Germany and Liechtenstein and is fluent in German. This was useful for carrying out interviews in Germany and Austria which later became a book about improving housing in the UK.
Prior to setting up CNA, Clare took a risky decision (which resulted in redundancy) to take a 6-month sabbatical to travel to South America, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam and China to carry out research for a master’s dissertation, which later became the above book. She didn’t have much money, so worked on organic farms (WWOOF) and couch-surfed her way around. Travelling with a purpose is something she would recommend to anyone.
